Juhoud TAJ I is focusing on creating job opportunities for youth within the local furniture sector, which—despite the challenges of COVID-19—remains promising with strong potential for growth and employment. Local furniture products hold a competitive edge, demonstrated by their strong demand in both local and Israeli markets, as well as their increasing share compared to imported goods.

The sector, however, faces a shortage of skilled and semi-skilled workers in areas such as carpentry, upholstery, furniture design, and marketing/sales. To address this gap, JUHOUD will equip youth with the skills needed to join furniture factories, particularly in the northern West Bank where most of the industry is concentrated. This region has been especially affected by youth leaving to work in Israel after gaining experience locally, largely due to wage disparities.

Through this project, Juhoud aimed to supply employers with capable, well-trained employees. Training was tailored to the specific needs of factories and also incorporated modules on marketing and sales, ensured that graduates are prepared to contribute to both production and market growth.
